Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda!!

by krazysoozun on December 21, 2011

Hey Y’all, It’s been a while. It’s Christmastime!!  It’s the time of year when we share time and gifts with family and friends. For some…if you’re crazy, you feel even more KRAZY!!!  For myself I ponder on the particular kind of ASS I am. YUP! I said it…I’m an ASS!!!  Don’t worry my lovely friends, I have no readers…I’m safe.  It doesn’t seem much like Christmas cuz some of the people that I used to spend Christmas with are not on this Earth anymore. Hence the title- “Shoulda, Coulda,Woulda”!!!

I recently began indulging in the luxurious vice of cigar smoking.  Now  the tag line of this site is “More money, More time , More LIFE!!” So don’t take up smoking!! It’s expensive, time consuming, and I’m pretty sure it can kill ya!!  But getting back to the “More life”  part of it, and the title of this post…(bear with me, I think I’m going somewhere with this).  The more I “dabble” in this cigar thing, I see the pleasure and reason why “WE” do it.

My DAD!! I miss him!! He used to be the soul of our family. When I was a younger, “SMARTER” man…when I knew it all, I was quite the ASS with my DAD. I always thought He had a lot to learn, He always asked me the same questions and made the same remarks. I used to think to myself  “doesn’t He have anything else to say??”  Now all the shoulda, woulda , coulda’s all come back and kick me in the ass!! I won’t go through all of them, but now when I sit in the back yard of  “our” house and smoke my $13 cigars I wish I could share one with my Pops!!

He always had a way of appreciating life, anything, any little thing!! He would express his joy very vocally….I miss that!!  I can almost hear him enjoying a good cigar. He would have never payed $13 for a cigar because He was smart, and would have rather put food on our table or play a round of golf!! :)

If I could just go back in time and sit and smoke a great stogie and drink a good beer with Him and chat…or not chat. Maybe just sit there and take in a little bit of the good life with my dear Father,  so that He could know that He was not only loved, but appreciated!!  Yes, that’s in the right order. My Pops knew He was loved but I’m pretty sure He felt unappreciated and possibly not as  liked as He would have wanted. All the shoulda, woulda, coulda’s don’t mean a thing today, It’s too late, too late because my Pops is long gone…I miss Him!!

So yeah…It’s Christmas time, time for all the get togethers. Make the most of them my dear friends, life is short.  “Shoulda, Woulda ,Coulda”  don’t let that be your reminiscence at the tail end of this FABULOUS LIFE.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Bottoms-up enjoy ur beer!!  KZ

FTT! FTT! FTT! Fish Taco Tuesday!!  At Rubio’s Baja Grill!

First let’s get to saving money,  $1.25 fish tacos- and their pretty damn good! I don’t even know how much they cost on a regular day but you can’t go wrong for a buck twenty five!!!

Me and the Krazy girlfriend try to do FTT as often as we can- we’re on a budget now so we don’t do it as often as we used to. To save that extra bit of cash we get it with 2 cups for water. The Rubio’s we go to has soda water, so with a squeeze of the free lime -we get a refreshing and cheap bev! 😉

Now for my taco experience.  Let me just say I grew up in the hood -East Los Angeles, Ca. I’ve eaten tacos from anywhere and everywhere you can possibly conjure up. I loved the “tacos a vapor” that I had in Tijuana- it was some guy with a steaming cart, sort of like the guys walking around with their paleta (popsicle) carts. They were steamed and FABULOUS!! I’ve had tacos at midnight in the parking lot of a liquor store- tacos Al Pastor, marinated pork tacos for about a buck in the big corn tortillas not the small ones. Those were so juicy and flavorful– if you’re local (or loco),  the guy used to be on Indiana just north of Whittier blvd.  He used to sell tacos in the parking lot of a liquor store by Stevenson Jr. High. These no doubt were a close second.

Now for the best tacos I’ve ever had, we go back to Rubio’s! You have to try the GOURMET GRILLED SIRLOIN STEAK TACOS w/ bacon!! These tacos are made with some new drug- when you take the first bite it’s like getting high! You have to close your eyes and savor every second of the breakdown in your mouth. The burnt cheese, the salsa, the meat, the avocado and of course the subtle touch at the end- that fabulous bacon. If you let yourself go and moan like ya did when you were a kid, it’s EUPHORIA!!

I don’t get a cut from Rubio’s, this post is for YOU, not ME, not Rubio’s– for YOU, my dear friends on a budget looking for something pleasant on this hamster wheel we call life. (oops! sorry, a little too deep!)  Hey it’s just a great taco and something to be experienced.  I’ve noticed that not all the locations make them exactly the same, so you may have to try a few different spots. Our recommendations are Glendale, Pasadena, and Monrovia where the service is usually great and the tacos are usually fabulous. For the folks out there reading this post that don’t have a Rubio’s nearby, if you come to town for a visit make it a point to stop by.

We used to order ala carte, but we figured out if you get the two taco plate you get beans and chips for a couple dollars more. They sell beer there too 😉 but don’t drink and drive! :(  Or have your significant other drive you! :)

We haven’t really tried any of the other Gourmet Grilled tacos like the chicken or shrimp, we got hooked on the steak and stuck with it.

To our vegetarian friends out there we say GOMEN!! (that’s sorry in Japanese) with a very sincere and respectful bow.  To my beer drinking taco eating carnivore friends we say take someone to drive you home cuz a couple of  beers with them tacos is sheer heaven-no disrespect to our religious friends!! Tuesday is coming! Enjoy, Enjoy, ENJOY!!

Bottoms-up! enjoy ur beer! K.Z.
